Although innovation is a key component of entrepreneurship, following an innovative approach or implementing an innovative strategy in a business can be challenging and often involves risk-taking. In general, innovative entrepreneurship is the practice of creating new business ideas with the intention of generating profit, reaching the company’s goals, or contributing to the local community. However, the term “innovative entrepreneur” refers to a broad concept, that may entail the following:

  • Enterprise: Being an enterprise entrepreneur means taking advantage of any opportunity that comes up and making a business bigger and bigger, not only in terms of profit, but also in terms of human resources and impact.
  • Start-up: An innovative idea is essential for establishing a start-up, while making this idea affordable and effective is the  main challenge that a start-up entrepreneur may face.
  • Social entrepreneurship: A social entrepreneur develops strategies for social offerings and solving problems of the local society by bringing change and sustainability.

An innovative entrepreneur must have excellent communication and networking skills, be a team player, while at the same time being open to constructive feedback and constantly measuring success.

Innovative strategic planning in entrepreneurship is about making short-term and long-term plans for a business or organization while having in mind an idea that will be a game-changer and transform the route of the entrepreneur and their team. In general, strategic planning is about organising not only day-to-day tasks but also the overall annual activity of the enterprise in such a way that it will stand out and have the desired impact. Innovative strategic planning may include:

  • Value creation: What is the value of the product/ service offered and for whom has it been designed?
  • Position: What is the entrepreneur offering and which problem do they intend to solve?
  • Delivery: What is the operating model of the business/ organization?
  • Competitive advantage: What does the entrepreneur offer that cannot be copied with the same levels of success?

Overall, cultivating an innovative culture and leadership style within an organization or business requires experimentation, risk-taking, and continuous learning.
